Bill, I would love to see your MG musings meld into an exceptionally lengthy essay in The New Yorker. Or a new novel. I’m not fussy.

Enjoyed the Globe and Mail article about you, was wondering where you went. Delighted to read your substack, looking forward to when you hit the “New Episode” button. 🐇

Thanks, Mary Ann. I'm pleased you're pleased. It's a funny old world we live in, and I'm not sure I'm cut out for Substackery but giving it a whirl. I'm trying to be Hippocratic about the whole business and to do no harm. Appreciate your kind words about the Globe piece -- Marsha Lederman takes great care with her work, which is good for anyone she writes about. All best, keep in touch, and thanks.

I would definitely listen to a Bill+Bill (or is it Billz?) podcast for the animated repartee!

Ha. Mostly we talk about a podcast when we're trying to figure out, say, crypto and sounding like we're in grade 2, just blithering. Are you well? Tell me you're well. xo

I am well. My dad passed away at Christmas so I am in Ottawa hanging out with my mom who turns 99 in a couple of weeks and doing an archeological dig at their house of 60 years. Unearthed a few relics such as the 1964 City of Ottawa water bill which came on a computer punch card, a K-Tel knitting booklet, my grade six essay on gorillas, and the ticket stub to U2's first tour in 1981. They bloody well charged $4 for their concert! xoxo

Paula, so sorry to hear that news, glad to know you’re having time with your mother. Still in the family home at 99? That’s incredible. 60 years in one place. Mercy. Wishing you all good things, xo

Thanks, Christine! that's very sweet of you. Shelties are a great breed, at least, the ones I've met have been pretty swell. So appreciate that you've taken the time to read and reply, I hope you find more to enjoy here, always great seeing you on Twitter, too.

Speaking of Leonor Fini, I have always loved this song. You may want to search out a video without the meowing cats, mind you. -Kate https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WgAasIpr4lE

Loved this, especially as I wrote a novel about Esther Brandeau (The Tale-Teller) and once costumed my daughter for Purim as " the Esther Bunny."

Susan, how wonderful to see you here, so honoured. Also a little - what? - nervous. I haven't read The Tale-Teller, will order it up post haste. I wrote a bit about Esther B in a book from - gulp - 1997, about Canadian eccentrics. I'd kind of forgotten about her until we started talking about our nun-dressing from all those years ago, and it just seemed so strange how she dovetailed with Benedictine Wiseman. Esther Bunny. Ha! Wishing you a happy Passover, thanks for the note, b
