This one (thank you Bill) will elicit many remembrances of brushes with greatness, for us your readers. I remember the spot on the counter where Michael Ondaatje rested his backside while giving a reading at our small local library in the early nineties. I never owned that spot but I would run my hand over it occasionally and smile.
I treasure your semi-daily posts. Sometime in the 80’s (I think) William Burroughs and John Giorno have a reading at the Italian Community Centre. My late friend Lenore Herb promoted the show, and so was invited backstage to meet them. William S, or Bill as he went by, smoked a joint with me. I have kept that roach in a small Reed case with a typewriter written piece of paper identifying it as such.
I really enjoyed this Bill . Which perhaps sounds so simple and almost trite-but if you imagine this is the first time you have seen such a comment/compliment the it speaks volumes no? Thank you !
Just confirming that we do in fact still call library patrons 'patrons'.
I too have a celebrity’s discarded junk as a treasure. Thanks for reminding me why we keep such things!

My partner Heather and I start our mornings with you and Mavis.
Today I forwarded your entry to a Librarian friend of ours ... retired New Westminster Reference.
Keep writing ... although not exactly MG fans we enjoy your humour and other bits and pieces.
Cheers - Margaret
