I have loved every post and hope you will continue in some form or t’other. Your extravagant gift of honouring MG was thoroughly delightful and I have to say, put E.W’s efforts to shame. Well done Mr. B

No need to apologize for anticipatory huffiness; I think it’s a form of blowing the house down when needed. New York Review of books posted a comment on Aug 11 and offered a discount on several of her books until midnight.

Oscar Peterson got a coin this week. Don’t give up on coins and stamps. Perhaps honouring famous ex-pats who did us proud??

The evening was perfect. And the incense cleared the head.

I was surrounded and stopped by police whilst trying to park by the church. I was apparently observed driving too aggressively for the neighbourhood. When I explained the reason for my haste and lane-changing, the young officer let me go. And so I made it to the church almost on time( missed the prelude and bells). So miracle number two: mercy for erratic granny. Could Mavis be the patron saint of the single minded?

I hope that you will continue posting, even if the MG:MMGCD are now closed. I have been a fan of yours for years, and as a lover of the English language I am entranced by your wordplay ("censor the censer" will live long in my memory). Please start a new diary, or a blog (if you will countenance the use of that word).

First, I think you mostly wrote this opening paragraph so that you could use the phrase, censor the censer. Secondly I hope what you are saying (Substack subtext) is that some publisher or editor has realized that you absolutely need to turn this truly operatic endeavour, over four months, into a Real Thing, not a fly-by-night flutter on The Cloud. Thirdly, thank you again for what was possibly the most Vancouver event I could have happened upon as I once again become a resident of Vancouver. Also, what were we hearing MG reading or saying before Cue the sirens, cue the gulls?

Hi Marian, sorry for the late reply. I think in the recording it's pretty clear -- the advantage of the recording over the live situation. around the 40 minute mark. so lovely to have seen you, thanks so much for coming!

I'd miss you if you stopped blogging here or somewhere. Please keep it up. Also, you have Blundstones. I love mine. I am supremely captured by images of the interiors of other people's homes. -Kate

I was thrilled to see a new entry and even more exited to hear that more are in the offing. Incense is definitely magic.

I’ll listen. I was so pleased to be there, and I seriously hope this wonderful exuberant project has legs. Or wings. I once did a graduate school project on Ben Jonson, and by the end I was convinced that I would look up and there he’d be, sitting in a pub or park. And he’s really really dead. You must practically be hearing MG breathing beside you as you write. Best wishes, hope to see you around town, mbf

Coming home from a semi-unplugged holiday to listen to this was delicious, and particularly appropriate on a Sunday it seems. I loved knowing that this was all coming from a spot only half a block from where I lived for so so many years, and that somehow her spirit was also blessing that of all the artists who lived in that area, and who still work there. Thanks so much.

Oh Bill, we wish you as many farewells as Cher. Like all the many famous DOA retirement shows, I see the many going out of business signs stacked against the wall, thank god we didn’t hold our breaths. Oops, only hoping you do it again.

I too hope you will continue posting. I have so enjoyed this series. If Luna and Soleil ( my cats) or my partner Gary, or any of the various visitors that have come and gone over the last few months have been present while I am reading your missives are often startled by my sudden outbursts of laughter that sometimes conintue on at length. I'm sorry I missed the service and the miracle!

So glad you had an 'addendum' to send our way. I want to thank you for the early mornings, late evenings and your dedication to the task at hand. It was with joy that I have just opened today's bit. Don't worry about the state of your apartment: that's really irrelevant, in my opinion.

Wish I'd been able to attend at St. James, complete with incense. Cheers, and more cheers for you!!
