Great writing is transcendent. I’m so happy that a new generation of readers and writers is finding its way to — and finding itself in — the work of Mavis Gallant. Arizona O’Neill (whose mother, Heather, wrote a centennial tribute to MG in The Walrus) has made this animated essay for CBC books, and it’s as smart as it is charming. If you enjoy it — and I’m sure you will — let your friends know! Cheers, and thanks to CBC’s Craig Desson for alerting me to this. BR
